The Asi River, of which length is 556 km, originates in the eastern part of the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon and flows into the Mediterranean Sea in Hatay, Turkey. On the contrary of all other rivers’ general characteristics, opposite direction of its flow which is from south to north, and also its bold-brown colour as a result of lose of its clarity due to carrying along the soils from where it passes through, make it renowned as rebellious, meaning ASİ in Turkish.
